Since 2016, Paysages de mégalithes has been a member of the French World Heritage Sites Association (Association des Biens Français du Patrimoine Mondial, ABFPM). Founded in 2007, this brings together the managers of listed sites keen to improve the protection and promotion of their properties, offer strategic insights informing French public policy, cooperate with the international community’s cultural and natural sites that together constitute universal heritage, and work together to promote them. The association also includes several candidate properties on the French Tentative List, allowing them to benefit from the experience of those that have gone before them.
The institutional partners in charge of overseeing the 1972 Convention also contribute to the Association’s work; these include the French government, the French UNESCO Commission, the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
The Association is the only organisation of this type in France, and the first of its kind in the world.
